Germany win their first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup: Pinnacle Solution Analysis

In Sunday's final, Germany utilized a dominant 22-10 run in the third quarter, led by brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner, to establish a comfortable lead and hold on for the victory. This marked the first all-European final since 2006.

The tournament’s most valuable player, Toronto Raptors point guard Dennis Schroder carried Germany with a game-high 28 points, way above his average of 17.9 points per game, and added two rebounds and two assists.

The two teams, who boast strong teamwork and chemistry, traded baskets in the first half, and entered the break tied at 47 points. But Germany built up a 12-point lead late on in the third quarter and never looked back.

The final standings for FIBA 2023 are as follows:

1. Germany (qualified for Paris 2024 as the best-ranked team from Europe)

2. Serbia (qualified for Paris 2024 as one of the top two ranked teams from Europe)

3. Canada (qualified for Paris 2024 as the best-ranked team from the Americas)

4. USA (qualified for Paris 2024 as one of the top two ranked teams from the Americas)

5. Latvia (qualified for Olympic Qualifying Tournaments)

6. Lithuania (qualified for Olympic Qualifying Tournaments)

FIBA is yet to publish the viewership numbers for this year's tournament, but we anticipate a rise in audience interest worldwide. The 2019 tournament in Beijing reached a peak of 3 billion viewers, with an additional 1.5 billion views on social media, representing an increase of over 80% from 2014.

After the tournament, we analysed the betting data across our network, including bet volume and popular markets, comparing figures from 2019.

The Pinnacle Solution Partner Network saw remarkable growth, as demonstrated by impressive statistics.

The Gross Risk associated with bets experienced a surge of 73%. This increase in risk is reflected in the 65% rise in unique bets placed within the network, which indicates growing interest in the platform. Moreover, the number of unique bettors has increased by 44%, highlighting the popularity among key global betting markets.

Among the various market types available, the most popular ones were: Spread, Total, MoneyLine and Parlay.

It is important to note that there was a significant increase of 64% in bets placed on the USA to win this year compared to 2019. However, despite this increase, the USA was not able to secure victory. This indicates that players may want to consider exploring alternative betting strategies for future FIBA World Cup tournaments.
